You may have recently seen an increased interest in limited edition 50p coins due to their high collector value, and with the phasing out of the old £5 note, collectors are turning their attention to rare bank notes.

When the new £5 note was released, many people began saving notes with significant serial numbers or ones with early AA01 serial numbers. Some of these notes fetched hundreds of pounds on internet auction sites and one old version of the £5 note has even been sold for £16,800.
