A recent study published by the Independent shows UK workers work less hours per week than the EU average.
The average hours accumulated by an individual working in the EU is 37.2 per week. Those working in the UK clock up approximately 36.5 hours per week.
Interestingly, the countries working the most hours on average are Greece, Portugal and Spain, all of which are currently in the middle of economic struggles. This may suggest that those with uncertain financial futures are prepared to work longer hours, possibly to provide a safety net.
